How to set up your Mayotte eSIM

-
Buy it and get your QR
As soon as you pay, an email arrives with the QR code and the instructions. No waiting, nothing to ship.
-
Set it up at home, over wifi
On your phone: Settings › Mobile data › Add eSIM, then scan the QR. If your plan activates on first use you can set it up weeks before flying to Mayotte; if it activates on install, do it just before you leave.

Land in Mayotte already online
Switch on data roaming for the GigaPass line and it connects to a local network. That's when validity starts.

Questions before you fly to Mayotte
When does validity start counting?
It depends on the plan: some start with the first connection at your destination, others when you install the eSIM. The plan's activation row tells you before you pay.
Do I have to switch anything on when I land in Mayotte?
Only data roaming on the GigaPass line. The eSIM connects itself to the local network and there are no extra charges, because the plan is a fixed price.
Do I lose my number or my WhatsApp?
No. Your SIM and your number stay active, and WhatsApp works with your usual number with nothing to set up: the eSIM handles your travel data (and the minutes, on plans that include them).
What coverage and speed will I get in Mayotte?
You connect to Orange with 4G data. Coverage is the same a local customer gets: excellent in cities, a bit weaker in remote areas, as with any operator.
What if I run out of data in Mayotte?
You top up from your account in a minute, with nothing to reinstall and no new eSIM: the top-up goes onto the one you already have.
Can I make calls or receive texts?
Most plans are data only. Calls and texts still go through your usual SIM, so your operator may charge you roaming for them. Some destinations do have plans that include minutes: where they exist, they are marked on that destination's page.
